U.S. Army, Vietnam, February 16, 1971 – Army Private First Class Howard D.
Matson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold N. Matson, route 2, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.),
received the Bronze Star Medal recently in Vietnam.
Pvt. Matson earned the medal for outstandingly meritorious service as a rifleman
with Company B, 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry, 111th Brigade, Aemrical Division
near Duc Pho.
During the same ceremony her received the combat infantryman badge for sustained
ground contact against the enemy.
He entered the Army in March 1970 and completed basic training at Ft. Bragg,
N.C.
He is a graduate of Medford High School.
