Ritter, Paul L. (1 OCT 1896 – 22 MAR 1971)
Funeral services for Paul Leo Ritter, 74, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), were
conducted from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home at 1:00 today, Thursday, March
25, 1971.
Officiating at the service was Rev. H.W. Luetkehoelter, pastor of the Nazareth
Lutheran Church, Withee. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery, Withee
Pallbearers were Blaine McCray, Art Whittemore, George Bender, Wm. Darge, Troy
Austin and Gordon Ritter Jr.
Mr. Ritter passed away Monday, March 22, 1971 at St. Joseph's Hospital following
complications that had bothered him since suffering a broken hip in a fall some
two months ago.
The deceased was born October 1, 1896 in Iowa. He was married July 2, 1919 in
Iowa to Alice Mae Adams, who preceded him in death in 1969. The couple came to
Arpin in 1919, lived there until 1923, when they moved to Neillsville (Clark
Co.). In 1941 they came to the Withee area. Mr. Ritter ahd been employed by the
county highway department for many years.
Survivors include six sons, Gordon Ritter, Chili; Merlyn Ritter, Kenosha; Victor
and Paul Jr., Withee; Arlyn Ritter, Granton, and Glenn Ritter, Abbotsford; five
daughters, Mrs. Art (Viola) Whittemore and Mrs. George (Alice) Bender, both of
Owen; Mrs. Blaine (Pauline) McCray and Mrs. Alfreda Austin, both of Withee; and
Mrs. William (Pearl) Darge, Greenwood; 26 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, a grandson, four
brothers and two sisters.
