Mertens, Edward E. (12 MAR 1889 – 22 MAR 1971)
Funeral services for Edward E. Mertens will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow
morning, Friday, March 26, 1971, from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen.
Father George Becker will officiating, with burial to be made at Riverside
Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be six nephews.
Mr. Mertens, a longtime resident of this community, died at 5 p.m. Monday at St.
Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, where he had been a patient since March 19.
Visitations may be made at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home beginning at noon
today, Thursday, March 25.
Mr. Mertens was born March 12, 1889 in Kiel, Wisconsin, and came to the Withee
area in 1913. He was married to Isabel Schottler, May 111, 1928, in Withee. The
couple made their home in the Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) area, where they farmed.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Clarence Mertens, route 1, Withee; a
daughter, Mrs. Del (Mary) Abramyszcyk, Milwaukee; five grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son in infancy, and 10 brothers and sisters.
