Sormunen, Aini C. (6 NOV 1886 – 11 APR 1971)
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, April 14, 1971 at
the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home for Mrs. Aini Christina Sormunen, 84, who died
Sunday, April 11, 1971 at Memorial Home in Neillsville.
Officiating at the final rites was the Rev. Lester Kringle, pastor of the
Alliance Church, Owen. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.
Arne Laakso, Pentha Puro, William Maki, Orlando Olson, James Barrett and A.
Kallio served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Sormunen was born November 6, 1886 in Almi, Wyoming. She went to Finland as
a small child and returned to the United States at the age of 20.
She was married in 1916 in Iron River, Michigan to Paul Sormunen, who preceded
her in death in 1945. The couple came to the Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) area and
operated a farm. She had lived there until 1965, when she entered the Havenet
Nursing Home in Owen. She had been a resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home
for 11 days.
She is survived by a son, Arvo, of Owen.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter.
