Blunck, Mr./Mrs. John (Gold – 10 MAY 1971)
Mr. and Mrs. John Blunck observed their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, May 9,
1971, by entertaining friends, neighbors and relatives at open house in the
Nazareth Lutheran parish hall.
John Blunck and Laura Miller were married May 10, 1921, in Owen (Clark Co.,
Wis.), by Rev. George Crowe, and spent their entire married life in Withee
(Clark Co.), where Mr. Blunck operated a livery and taxi service until 1926,
when they purchased the building south of the school and operated a restaurant
and store until 1962, when ill health forced them to retire to their present
home. Mr. Blunck is interested in civic affairs and was a member of the village
board for several years, six year of which he was president of the village. He
also served on the county board for four years.
Mr. and Mrs. Blunck are the parents of two children, Mrs. John (Viola) Jalling
and John Louis Blunck; two grandchildren and two great grandsons, all of the
Owen-Withee area.
The bridesmaid, Mrs. Rose Leland, and best man, Walter Blunck, of 50 years ago
were in attendance. Many friends and relatives from Minneapolis, Eau Claire,
Altoona, Bruce, Holcombe, Conrath, Stanley, Thorp, Wausau, Marshfield, Union
Grove, La Crosse, West Salem, Greenwood, and Owen-Withee area were in
attendance.
The dining room was beautifully decorated with many live flowers and gold
accents.
