Podrovitz, George (4 April 1910 – 21 December 1974)

George Podrovitz, 64, Greenwood died in Neillsville December 21, following a heart attack suffered December 16.

George Podrovitz, son of Thomas and Martha (Jurasovic) Podrovitz, was born April 4, 1910, in Milwaukee. He was married January 6, 1932, in Waukegan, Il., to Mathilda Cerne, who survives. They lived in Chicago for eight years and then moved to the Willard area in 1940, where they farmed until June 1973, when they retired and moved to the city of Greenwood.

He was a member of the Town of Hendren board for a number of years.

Surviving besides his wife is a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Marian) Smrecek of Greenwood; a son, Michael, of Greenwood; nine grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Ann Robersen of Milwaukee; Mrs. Marie Farrell of Milwaukee and Mrs. Catherine Plautz of Willard.

Funeral services were held December 23 from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. Michael Mertens, pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard, officiated. Burial was made in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Willard.

Pallbearers were: David Smrecek, Daniel Smrecek, Jr., Roland Hintz, Robert Herrick, George Plautz and Roger Kirn.

Gary Schultz sang, “The Prayer of St. Francis,” and “How Great Thou Art,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Gary Schultz.
