Faber, Kevin Mark (6 JUL 1962 - 28 NOV 2005)
Kevin Mark Faber, born July 6, 1962, died suddenly on Monday, November 28, 2005
at his home in Wasilla, Alaska.
Kevin was nineteen years old when he began his adventure in Alaska. He was a
musically talented farm boy from Wisconsin. Kevin, along with his wit,
sensitivity, and musical talents, packed up his Elka Vox accordion that his dad
and mom had given to him and left his family, friends, and the life he had
known. A week after arriving in Anchorage, Kevin was already playing as the
'Famous One-Man Band in Alaska.' Throughout his years in Alaska he performed
with many, many very talented, fun-loving musicians. Kevin taught accordion and
piano for twenty years in Anchorage. Kevin loved music and sharing his talents
through teaching. He helped raise up the Anchorage School of Music by providing
instruments, advertising, teachers and lessons. He owned and operated the Alaska
Music Center for over fifteen years.
Kevin enjoyed playing music all around the state for every kind of event. He was
a member of the Sons of Norway since 1989 and played for many of their social
events. Kevin was generous to all in need and well respected in the business
community and by many, many friends. He will be remembered by his love for music
and generosity with his talents and gifts.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Norbert Ernest and Myrtle Irene Anna (Fischer)
Faber of Merrill, Wisconsin; his sisters, Sheryl, Judith, Janice and Yvonne;
brothers Gary, Russell, Randall and Nathan; and his best friend and loving
former wife Hedwig Faber.
Services will be held in Wisconsin on Sunday, December 18, at 2:00 p.m., Bell
Tower Chapel, 1500 O'Day Street, Merrill, Wisconsin. A supper is to follow.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend. A celebration of Kevin's life will
be held at the Viking Hall, Anchorage, Alaska, in March of 2006. Further notice
will be given.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hedwig Faber, 9301 Skyview
Drive, Wasilla, AK 99654 (hedwig@mta.net).
Funds will be used for a Music Scholarship in behalf of Kevin's memory.
