Semanko, Isabel Adeline (Geist) (20 FEB 1909 - 28 OCT 2005)
After nearly a century of unconditional love and caring for family and friends,
Isabel was called home to God on Oct. 28, 2005, at her son’s home in Eau Claire,
Wis.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1909, in Boyd, Wis., the daughter of Isadore and Esther
(Flynn) Geist.
She grew up in the area, attending area schools and later teaching in one-room
schools for six years. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Semanko on June
11, 1935, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Boyd, Wis. They farmed north of
Gilman, Wis., for 10 years and later in the Huron area, town of Colburn, for 30
years. They moved to Boyd, Wis., in 1977, after they retired from farming.
Isabel loved to go to church and play cards.
She is survived by three sons, Clarence (Janice) of Thief River Falls, Minn.,
Larry (Sue) of Eau Claire, Wis., Bill (Kathy) of Junction City, Kansas, plus 23
grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, and
many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence in 1989; two infant
daughters; daughter Lucille Goebel; three brothers, Michael, Peter and Isadore
Geist Jr., and one sister, Josephine Henke.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at St. Joseph’s Catholic
Church in Boyd, Wis., with interment in Meadowbrook Cemetery in Gilman, Wis.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Plombon Funeral Home in
Stanley, Wis., in which a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home.
