Davis, Alvin Lee (25 July 1944 – 29 March 2018)
Alvin Lee Davis, 73 of Merrillan, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at
Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born on July 25, 1944 in
Waukesha, to Cora (Wessner) and Laurel Davis.
Al was the eighth child of nine and grew up on the family farm in Waukesha. He
worked at various foundries in the Waukesha area until he moved to the Hatfield
/ Merrillan area in 1987. He was a hard-working man and enjoyed his job with the
Town of Dewhurst until his retirement. He was well known for his vegetable
gardens, raising chickens, selling eggs and making goat cheese. He enjoyed
hunting and fishing, feeding his birds, playing guitar, Hank Williams Sr, and
watching Nascar and his Packers!
Al is survived by his brothers Virgil (Carol) of Mukwonago, Dale (Janet) of
Merrillan, and Dean, his adopted son Michael (Donna) LaBar of Barron, his loving
companion Catherine Peterson and her children Alisha (Joe) Southwood of Hatfield
and Eric (Kelly Tidgwell) Goettl of Chetek as well as 7 step grandchildren;
loved by other relatives and friends as well as his beloved dog Maggie.
Al is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Marjory, Corrine, and
Gloria; and his brothers Lyle and Raymond as well as an infant son Darrin.
Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00
p.m. at Torgerson’s Funeral Home in Black River Falls. Burial at Komensky
Cemetery will be at a later date. Torgerson’s Funeral Home is assisting the
family with arrangements.
