Wittlinger, Vern W. (4 JUN 1944 – 6 APR 2018)
Colby - Vern W. Wittlinger, Jr., age 73, of Colby, passed away surrounded by his
loving family on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at
Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milan. Rev. Jeffrey Lambrecht will officiate.
Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and from 3:00 p.m. until the time
of service Saturday at the church.
Vern was born on June 4, 1944, the son of Vern and Delores (Denzin) in
Marshfield. He graduated from Dor-Abby High School in 1962. On November 27,
1965, Vern was united in marriage to Darlene Matson in Scandinavia. Together
they farmed in the Town of Hull until his retirement and moved to Colby.
Vern was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and held many
offices. He liked bowling, ice fishing, hunting, the outdoors and especially the
Packers. Vern loved going to Rib Mountain for family picnics and getting
together with his family for Sunday dinners.
Vern is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darlene of Colby; three daughters:
Renee Wittlinger of Colby, Nicole (Brian) Quarne of Marshfield and Michelle
(Lucas) Passehl of Arcadia and seven grandchildren. He is further survived by
his brother, Verlyn (Judy) Wittlinger of Abbotsford; two sisters: Charlotte
Wittlinger of Abbotsford and Barbara (David) Ven Rooy of Owen; many nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials can be designated to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Building Fund.
