Halverson, Geraldine “Gerry” R. (Paul) (15 JUL 1936 - 9 APR 2018)
Geraldine “Gerry” R. Halverson, 81, of Medford, passed away on Monday, April 9,
2018 at Marshfield Medical Center.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11
a.m. on Friday, April 13 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in the town of Holway
with Pastor Amy Heinz officiating. Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral
Home, Medford Chapel, on Thursday night from 4-7 p.m. and Friday morning at the
church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Our
Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Gerry was born on July 15, 1936 to Henry and Florence (Raymond) Paul. She is a
graduate of Medford Sr. High and attended the Taylor County Teachers College.
She married Harvey Halverson on Aug. 15, 1959 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in
the town of Holway and he survives.
Gerry taught at several different schools in Taylor County. She then stayed home
to raise her children and then went on to work for Taylor County Human Services
for 23 years. She was an avid reader, artist, enjoyed baking and cooking,
birdwatching and completing jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, she loved her entire
family.
In addition to her husband, Gerry is survived by her children, Julie (Mark
Hoffman) Simono of Mukwonago, Donna (Vince) Hawley of Scottsdale, Ariz., David
(Leslie) Halverson and Paula (Tim) Stroinski, all of Medford and Kristin (Dean)
Remer of Woodbury, Minn.; grandchildren, Alex, Mariah, Jessica, Maya and Noah;
great-granddaughter, Josslyn; siblings, Dick (Joanne) Paul of Portland, Ore.,
Patsy Meier of Medford and Danny (Theresa) Paul of Dorchester; numerous nieces
and nephews; and many other in-laws.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Isabel, Elizabeth,
Clifford, Jimmy and Donna Mae.
Memorial donations in honor of Gerry can be given
to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church or to the Frances L. Simek Memorial Library.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with
arrangements.
