Brasier, Mr./Mrs. Gerald (Golden – 13 January 1975)

Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Brasier, 501 Beaver St., Loyal, gathered at the all-purpose room of St. Anthony’s School Sunday afternoon to help them celebrate their Golden wedding anniversary. The refreshment table was decorated with a golden floral arrangement from the family and a wedding cake.

Two granddaughters, Lynn Wiggins, Eugene, Ore., and Kim Brasier, Loyal, were in charge of the guest book.

At noon a family dinner for approximately 30 was served at the Star Lodge Motel, Loyal, where tables were decorated with floral arrangements including a floral centerpiece from a niece, Mrs. Robert (Hazel) Chase of San Diego, Ca.

The former Eva Mattord and Gerald Brasier were married at Rhinelander on January 13, 1925. They moved to Loyal in 1927 and have lived there since that time.

She was the middle child, with nine sisters and three brothers. The family also included a niece, now Mrs. Chase, who lost her own mother at the age of seven days.

Then he worked in a logging camp for a year before returning to Loyal. From there he went to Rhinelander where he worked in a veneer mill where he met his bride-to-be.

They returned to Loyal. Mr. Brasier worked for Lang-Sherman for a number of years and worked moving buildings. He also worked for the city and for the railroad for several years before retiring. Mrs. Brasier candled eggs at the Colby store for a number of years and worked at various other places in Loyal. Together, the Brasiers were in charge of the Fischer Milk Depot in Loyal for some time.

Now one of his pastimes is watching TV. Mrs. Brasier enjoys various crafts and does crocheting.

Mr. Brasier’s brother and sister, Burrel Brasier of Junction City, Ore., and Mrs. Walter (Thelma) Trembley of Albany, Ore., were unable to attend.

Mrs. Brasier’s brother and four sisters from Michigan attended the celebration. They are: William Mattord, Mrs. Homer (Lillian) Cayo and Mrs. Eunice Chattelan, all of Kingsford; Mrs. Steve (Jane) Osieczonek, Iron Mountain; and Mrs. Rose Thomas, Chalotte.

The Brasiers raided four children: Mrs. Mervin (Ardyth) Rossow, Junction City, Ore., Mrs. Jerome (Shirley) Brecht, De Pere, and Darwin Brasier, Loyal, were all home for the celebration. A son, Gerald, died in service.

Others attending the anniversary were Mrs. Gerald (Marina) Brasier, Marshfield, and 11 of the 14 grandchildren.
