Lindner, Mathias (22 December 1887 – 3 January 1975)
Mathias Lindner, 87, Greenwood, died Friday morning in the Marshfield
Convalescent Center, where he has resided since the fall of 1973.
He was born December 22, 1887, in Millston, where he attended school. In 1910 he
came to the Greenwood area and settled on a farm east of the city of Greenwood.
He was married on January 22, 1918, to Gertrude Scherer, who died September 4,
1956.
Mr. Lindner was employed by Plautz Bros. and farmed for 25 years. He retired and
moved to the city of Greenwood in 1961, where he resided until he went to the
center.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the
Catholic Knights.
Surviving, are four sons: Frank, Lawrence and James of Rt. 2 Loyal and Bernard
of Muskego; three daughters: Mrs. Fred (Genevieve) Budzisz of Hinsdale, Il.,
Miss Loretta Lindner of Greenwood, and Mrs. Richard (Helen) Esselman of
Greenwood; two brothers: Casper and Erhort Lindner of Greenwood, and two
sisters: Mrs. Mary Bushman of Loyal and Mrs. Gerald (Anna) Denk of Greenwood.
Twenty-nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from Hill Funeral Home and at
10:30 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Houston officiated.
Burial was made in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
