Marking, Martha (27 JAN 1892 – 2 JUN 1971)

Mrs. Martha Marking, 79, of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 1971 at a convalescent home in Prairie du Chien.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee, with the Rev. H.W. Luetkehoelter, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

The former Martha Ness was born January 27, 1892 near Eau Claire, and was married December 10, 1909 in Stanley, to John Marking, who preceded her in death March 21, 1954.

The couple came to Owen in 1914 and she made her home here until entering the convalescent home.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Longwood, and its Ladies Aid.

Survivors include a son, Gordon Marking, Kansas City, Mo.; eight daughters, Mrs. Theresa Powers, Prairie du Chien; Mrs. George (Geneva) Clark, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mrs. Everett (Margaret) Compton, Wilmette, Ill.; Mrs. Garvin (Luverne) Pusey, Canton, Ill.; Mr.s Herman (Dorothy) Rabska, Withee; Mrs. Donald (Harriet) Carrier, Edgerton; Mrs. John (Eunice) Davison, River Falls; and Mrs. Lester (Bonnie) Hansen, Withee; 19 grandchildren; and a brother, Johannes Ness, Chippewa Falls.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Jr.
