Rohland, Helen L. (Fijalkiewicz) (10 OCT 1922 - 14 APR 2018)
Helen L. Rohland, age 95, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at her
daughter’s home in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018,
at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Father Janusz Kowalski will preside.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Family and friends are
welcome from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday at the church.
The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.
Helen was born on Oct. 10, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Jennie (Gulcynski)
Fijalkiewicz in Stanley. She attended St. Anne’s Catholic School and graduated
from Stanley High School in 1940. Helen moved to Chicago after graduation and
worked at Stewart-Warner making panels for military jeeps. On Oct. 30, 1943, she
was united in marriage to Albert Rohland at St. Hyancinth Catholic Church in
Chicago.
In 1950, they moved to rural Curtiss and bought a dairy farm where they farmed
for 29 years. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1999.
As a child, she was in Girls Scouts and later became a leader. Helen was
involved in the Curtiss Community Club, Midway Homemakers, Curtiss Card Club,
St. Anne’s Circle at Holy Rosary, PTA and the Owen-Withee American Legion
Women’s Auxiliary, where she held an office at the county level. She also wrote
the Curtiss news for the Tribune-Phonograph in Abbotsford and the Owen-Withee
Enterprise.
Helen liked dancing, gardening, baking, embroidery, cake decorating, traveling
and camping. Most importantly, she cherished and loved her family.
Helen is survived by her four daughters, Sandra Bosley of Marshfield, Susan
(Ronald) Metzner of Neenah, Sharon Rohland of Marshfield and Sheila (Kevin)
Ziesemer of Hortonville; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Laura) Bosley,
Jennifer Bosley, John Metzner, Karen (Callie) Metzner, Tom Metzner, Zach
Ziesemer (fiancée, Amanda Mathis), Mitch Ziesemer (fiancée, Danielle Klug) and
Erin Ziesemer; and two great-granddaughters, Caitlyn Bosley and Lillie Metzner.
She is further survived by her sister, Gina Buhr; and her brother, Frank
Fijalkiewicz, both of Chippewa Falls; nieces and nephews; other relatives and
friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, George
Fijalkiewicz; a son-in-law, Larry Bosley; and many in-laws.
