Nehs, Clara C. (26 April 1888 – 25 January 1975)
A former Clark County school teacher and Neillsville resident for many years,
Mrs. Victor (Clara C.) Nehs of Memorial Home, died Saturday, January 25, at the
age of 86. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from the Georgas-Gesche
Funeral Home with the Rev. William Noble of the United Methodist Church and the
Rev. Neil Floberg officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Nehs, the daughter of Gustav P. and Mary (Anderson) Floberg, was born April
26, 1888, in the State of Kansas. She came to Wisconsin as a young girl with her
parents and lived in the Rice Lake area where she received her education. She
taught elementary school in Abbotsford and in Loyal.
Her marriage to Victor W. Nehs took place at Rice lake in 1917. Following their
marriage, the couple moved to Neillsville and lived at 12 Grand Ave., where she
resided until entering memorial Home. Mr. Nehs preceded his wife in death in
1949. Mrs. Nehs was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons: DeWayne P. Nehs of Milwaukee and Franklin L. Nehs of
Appleton; three sisters: Mrs. Adam (Laura) Hutta of Phoenix, Az., Mrs. Amy Melby
of Madison and Mrs. Florence Derifield of Bellingham, Wa.; one brother, Clarence
Floberg of Rice Lake; and three grandchildren.
