Peterson, Donald I. (4 SEP 1929 - 22 APR 2018)

Donald I. Peterson, 88, Township of Catawba, died on Sunday Morning April 22, 2018, at his home under the care of his family and Flambeau Home Health Care and Hospice.

He was born on September 4, 1929, in Pound, WI, the son of Arne and Thora Peterson. He made his home in the Township of Catawba with his family as a child. He attended and graduated from Phillips High School, with the Class of 1947.

He was married to Hilda Mabie on August 8, 1959, in South St. Paul, Minnesota. He and his wife Hilda owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Catawba for many years prior to his retirement, as well as working as a logger. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, and the Catawba Cemetery Association both of Catawba.

In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, woodworking projects, and spending time with his family and friends especially his grand and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Hilda, Township of Catawba, 5 children: RaeJean (Tim) Walker, Cadott, WI, Mark (Char) Grafton, WI, Todd, Catawba, Gail Peterson, Wausau WI, and Lynn Kannesberg, Colby, WI, by 9 Grandchildren, and 7 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 brother Melvin, and 2 sisters: Dorothy Paulin, and Marion Davenport.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Catawba, with Pastor Hilbert Schultz officiating. Interment will be in the Catawba Cemetery, Catawba.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.

The Heindl Funeral Home is in charge of the service.
