Riegert, Norma June (Amo) (6 JUN 1921 - 23 APR 2018)

Norma J. Riegert, 96, of Medford, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018, at her residence in the city of Medford under the loving care of her family and Hope Hospice.

Services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, April 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville. There will be a Rosary service starting at 11:30 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Michael Hayden officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Stetsonville (Sacred Heart) Catholic Cemetery at a later time

Visitation will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville from 10 AM until the time of services at 11:30 AM on Friday, April 27.

Norma was born on June 6, 1921, at the family homestead in the Township of Browning, to Albert and Caroline “Lena” (Gamper) Amo. She attended Fairfield Elementary school, in the Town of Browning.

She was married on September 25, 1946, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford to Edward Herman Riegert. He preceded her in death March 29, 2009.

Prior to her marriage, she worked at International Harvester in Milwaukee during WW II. After their marriage, they moved to the Town of Deer Creek and she worked at a countertop laminate factory in Dorchester, the Medford Laundry, for 23 years as a self-employed housekeeper, a housekeeper and nanny for Marv & Pauline Riemer and housekeeper at Sacred Heart Catholic Church until her retirement in 1989. She sang professionally with her friends of many years, Emil & Lucille Daellenbach. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, flowers, nature & taking walks in the woods. Our mother was a strong woman who endured the loss of all of her and our father’s siblings and endured many physical challenges with courage and faith. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville; past member of: Catholic Order of Foresters & Medford and Dorchester Bowling leagues.

Norma is survived by her children, Sharon (Joe) Cypher of Medford, (her devoted caretaker for many years); Michael Riegert of Medford; Judith (Stephen) Hasenohrl of Rapid City, SD; and Mark (Pam) Riegert of Medford; 4 grandchildren, Megan Laufenberg, Abbie Melom, Jason & Don Cypher; 3 great great grandchildren Micah Melom, Emily & Alex Cypher.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ed; parents Albert and Caroline “Lena” (Gamper) Amo; and siblings Mae Perkins, Lucille Etten, Fern Werner, Inez Loetscher, Edith “Tootie” Engel & Odile Wollum; Brother James Amo. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to the family for a future designation.
