Swanson, Edwin (6 DEC 1927 - 20 APR 2018)

Edwin Swanson, age 90, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 while at Artisan Assisted Living.

Ed was born on Dec. 6, 1927 in Ladysmith, the son of Herbert and Clara Swanson. He married Helen Leonhard on Sept. 15, 1956 in Ladysmith.

Ed was in the Navy from 1946-57 and in the Air Force from 1957-67. Once retired from the military, he worked at the Wisconsin Historical Society and Schultz’s Market in DeForest. He was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church in DeForest.

Survivors include his three children, Vicky (Kurt) Lange, Janet (Randy) Krigbaum and Eric Swanson; four grandchildren, Jillian, Tiffany (Nick), Aaron (Shannon) and Kristine; six great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Mason, Easton, Taylor, Avery and Maggie; sister, Norma Martt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; three children, Dave, Maria and Stephen Swanson; parents; four siblings, Lorraine Stewart, Ethel Rieder, and Peggy and Herbert Jr. Swanson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be written to Agrace HospiceCare and the United Service Organizations (USO) at PO Box 96860, Washington D.C. 20077-7677.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 623 Jefferson Street, DeForest on Monday, April 30 at 11 a.m, with Fr. Vincent Brewer officiating. A visitation will be held at Ryan Funeral Home in DeForest on Sunday, April 29 from 3-6 p.m., and also at the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m. Burial will conclude at St. Olaf’s Catholic Cemetery.
