Bartelt, Viviana “Mickey” (20 May 1928 – 28 April 2018)

Viviana “Mickey” Bartelt, 89, of Medford died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Aspirus Care & Rehab in Medford, where she had resided for the past five months.

She was born May 20, 1928, in Forest River, NC, to James and Albina Josephine (Dvorak) Votava. She attended St. John’s Elementary School in Pisek, ND, and Stetsonville Elementary School. She married Chester Bartelt June 5, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. He preceded her in death July 21, 1970.

Viviana is survived by her children, Josephine (Marvin) Evatt of Mt. Vernon, MO; Carol (Chuck) Chamberlain of Concrete, WA; Valerie Risch of Athens; Sharon Yuda of Tucson, AZ; Chester Bartelt Jr. of Brooklyn; nine grandchild ren, seven great-grandchildren, siblings: Anna Faye Aumann of Neillsville and Virginia Zugich of Elkhorn.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son Mark Bartelt; granddaughter, Loretta Goodman, brothers: twin Vivian “Shorty” Votava and Jim Votava; sisters: Harriet Rehr and Veronica Risch.

In 1947, she moved with her family to the Neillsville and Goodrich areas. After her marriage, Chester and Viviana resided in the Rockford, IL, area where she worked for many years in retail sales for J. C. Penney’s in Machesney Park, IL, until her retirement in 1983. In 2012 she moved to Athens to reside near her daughter. She enjoyed crafts, flower gardening, bird watching and puzzles.

She was of the Catholic faith and attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford. She was a lifelong member of the Loves Park, Il, VFW Auxiliary.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Phil Juza officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Neillsville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church in Medford.
