Charles Lee Morris, Jr., 87, of Ladysmith died Friday, April 27, 2018 at Sacred
Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth and children: Charles & Cathy
of Aledo, TX; Sterling & Linda of Joliet, IL; Pamela & Norman Gaston of Shabbona,
IL; Robin of Ladysmith, 9 grandchildren: Andrew, Jason, Kristin, Christy,
Amanda, Nicholas, Kimberly, Matthew and Michelle. 32 great-grandchildren and 2
great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. at the
Bruce American Legion with Legion Chaplains Dale Lund and Wally Fuglsang
officiating. Friends may call for an hour prior to the service at the Legion
hall.
A second memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the DeKalb
Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 4:00 P.M. in DeKalb, IL. Friends may call at the
church from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given on behalf of Charles Morris to the
Bruce American Legion 834 N. Main Street Bruce, WI 54819.

Charles Lee Morris Jr., 87, of Ladysmith, died peacefully after a short illness
on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He was
surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was born on April 10, 1931 in Salida, Colo., the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles and Margarette (Milyard) Morris Sr. His early life was spent in
Colorado, New Mexico and then Illinois, where he met and married Elizabeth Anne
Towne of Oswego, Ill. on May 13, 1950.
Chuck joined the Navy at age 19, serving in the Mediterranean aboard the USS
Macomb (Mine Sweeper) during the Korean conflict. He became a commercial painter
when discharged, working in the Chicagoland area for 39 years.
In 1973 he accepted Christ as his Savior and began a life of service to his
Lord. He was an avid student of the Bible. A self-taught mason, he bricked the
Seventh-day Adventist Church in DeKalb, Ill. in 1977 where he was a church elder
and lay preacher.
After moving to Ladysmith in 1993 with his wife Elizabeth, he joined the Bruce
American Legion and remained a member for over 25 years. Eight years later he
became the commander of the Bruce American Legion and bingo caller, serving for
more than 17 years.
Chuck was known by family and friends for his quick wit, keen mind, ready smile,
goofy personality and twinkle in his eye. He lived his religion out by his
actions showing kindness and love. He had a great love for his family and will
be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth and children, Charles (Cathy)
of Aledo, Texas, Sterling (Linda) of Joliet, Ill., Pamela (Norman) Gaston of
Shabbona, Ill. and Robin of Ladysmith. He is also survived by nine
grandchildren, Andrew, Jason, Kristin, Cristy, Amanda, Nicholas, Kimberly,
Matthew and Michelle; 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson, Michael Gaston.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5 at the Bruce American Legion,
834 N. Main Street, Bruce. Visitation will be at 3 p.m. with a memorial service
at 4 p.m. A second memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19 at the
DeKalb Seventh-day Adventist Church, 300 E. Taylor St., DeKalb, Ill. Visitation
will be at 2 p.m. and memorial service at 4 p.m.
Chuck will be interred in a private ceremony at Northern Wisconsin Veterans
Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given on behalf of Charles Morris to Bruce
American Legion, 834 N. Main St., Bruce, WI, 54819.
