Zelm, Mayme J. (Telin) (? - 29 APR 2018)

Mayme J. Zelm, age 96, formerly of Longwood, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Marshfield Medical Center.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee. Rev. Thomas Myhre will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Mayme was born on October 13, 1921, the daughter of Salomon and Maria (Ryoti) Telin in the Town of Hoard. She graduated from Owen High School in 1939. On May 20, 1940, Mayme was united in marriage to Ervin Zelm in Waukegan, IL.

She worked at the Longwood Cheese Factory from 1940-47 with her husband. In 1947, they purchased the Longwood Tavern and operated it until his death in 1991. Mayme was the Town of Longwood Treasurer for 20 years from 1973-93. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Altar Guild. Mayme enjoyed tending to her garden.

Mayme is survived by four children: William (Linda) Zelm of New Brighton, MN, Robert Zelm of Madison, James (Sandra) Zelm of Chippewa Falls and Sandra (Lon) Zhe of Madison; eight grandchildren: Teri (Tom) Kovacs, Juli (Juan) Gonzalez, Dan Schley (fiancee, Lindsey), Jamie (Cheri) Zelm, Jennifer (Chas) Phillips, Heidi (Keith) Latendresse, Julia (Kevin) Gillis and Suzette Rettinger; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Mary in 2010; a daughter-in-law, Darlene; her siblings: Imbie Sale, Charles Telin, John Telin, Arvo Ryoti, Toivo Ryoti, Linda Rady and Eric Telin.
