Koplitz, Harold E. (1915? – 08 SEP 1973)
Harold E. Koplitz, 58, Route 1, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), was killed Saturday
afternoon in a farm machinery accident on his farm in the Town of Colby.
Koplitz was working on a combine when he became wedged between a shaft and a
frame on the machine, according to investigating officers. His wife found the
body when she returned from a shopping trip about 5:30 p.m., and she called for
help.
It was believed that Koplitz had been working on the machine in the farm yard.
The tractor with a hydraulic life had been used to raise the cutting mechanism
and to hold it in suspension while he worked inside the machine. The combine
apparently rolled backward, allow the cutting mechanism to drop down, pinning
him inside.
The body was taken to the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.
