Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Brady, 92, of Abbotsford, were held Saturday,
from the First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. The Rev. Robert Swalve,
pastor, officiated. The Polnaszek Funeral Home was in charge, with burial in
Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
The former Stella Adelia Baker, daughter of George and Mary (Albright) Baker was
born east of Stanley in Clark County, on March 2, 1882. She received her
education at Stanley High School and teachers training department. After
teaching for a number of years she returned home to take care of the younger
children.
On September 20, 1905, she was married to Charles B. Brady in Stanley, where
they lived for several years.
They moved onto a farm near Curtiss, not far from the Brady School, where she
had taught at one time. Her husband was a blacksmith and had a grist mill.
When she became a widow in 1931, she continued on the farm with help of hired
men until 1946, when she moved to Abbotsford. She was the cook at the Abby Café,
the Bus Depot and the Coffee Cup.
Mrs. Brady taught Sunday school at Curtiss, and in Abbotsford became secretary
and treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church from 1956 until 1968. She was
active in the Star Circle.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Beulah Hurley of Abbotsford; a sister, Mrs.
Ruth Kline of Loyal; and two brothers: Lester Baker, in Florida and Floyd Baker,
in Arizona.
