Newman, Elmer (24 DEC 1889 – 12 NOV 1973)
Elmer Newman, 310 W. Mill Street, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), died unexpectedly at
3 a.m. Monday, November 12, 1973, at his home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at the Rinka Funeral Home, with the Rev.
Eugene Carlson of United Methodist Church, Loyal, officiating. Burial was in the
Loyal Cemetery.
The Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Elmer Neuman was born December 24, 1889 in the Town of Beaver, and received his
education at Pleasant View School. He was married on July 30, 1921 at Whitehall,
Wis. to the former Hilda Nelson, who survives him.
For a brief period he was a lumberjack. Her served in World War I, worked in
North Dakota, where he farmed, returning to Loyal, after which he worked for the
Soo Line Railroad. He was Chief of Police in Loyal for 25 years, retiring in
1952.
He was a member of Post 175, American Legion, Loyal.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Henry (Rose) Boe,
Loyal, and one brother, Godfrey, St. Louis, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
