The home of Albert Pogodzinski, located northeast of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), was completely destroyed by fire at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The cause of the fire is not known, although Fire Chief Louis Kebl stated the fire department felt the fire started in the basement where an oil heater was being used to keep the water pipes from freezing. There was some insurance on the home.

The fire could initially be seen through the windows by the fire department when they arrived. It spread quickly, being fanned by a strong west wind.
