Wendtland, Floyd A. (11 JUN 1938 - 17 MAY 2018)

Floyd A. Wendtland, 79, Town of Seymour, Chippewa Falls, WI, died peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at his residence with his family by his side.

Floyd was born on June 11, 1938, to Arthur and Marcella (Smith) Wendtland in Edgar, WI. He grew up farming and going to a one-room school. Floyd was a member of St. Bridget’s Church in the Town of Seymour.

Floyd married Joyce Zimmerman on December 9, 1968, in Stevens Point, WI. He was a caring family man with a sense of humor and enjoyed sharing school day stories. He enjoyed joining his six kids with activities and projects, listening to their music, taking them gopher trapping, and biking. He also enjoyed blackberry picking, scheduling his vacation time around it and never eating a berry until he got them home!

He worked many jobs — farming, dehorning cattle and driving milk truck. He was a brakeman on the railroad. He worked as a grinder operator at EDI for 27 years.

In his retirement years, Floyd enjoyed biking, working on wood, playing cribbage, and pool.
Floyd instilled values of right and wrong, working hard without complaints, and making time with family a priority.

Floyd is survived by his wife; four sons, John (Melissa) of Chippewa Falls, Jason (Heidi) of Eau Claire, Jeremy (Jill) of Eau Claire, and Joseph of Chippewa Falls; two daughters, Wendy (David) Loew of Colfax and Molly (Ross) Barger of Stanley; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clarence Wendtland; and one sister, Mildred Schlichting.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at St. Bridget’s Church in the Town of Seymour. The Very Rev. Justin Kizewski will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in St. Bridget’s Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to time of services at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, at St. Bridget’s Church in the Town of Seymour.
