David Allen Lingenfelter was born on May 13, 1951, in Bassett, Neb., to William
and Wanda (nee Vargason) Lingenfelter. He was raised and received his education
in Bassett, and graduated from Rock County High School in 1969. While in high
school, Dave was active in 4-H and FFA. After high school, Dave attended a
technical school in Colorado for two years. He returned to Bassett, where he
worked on a ranch. Dave married Deborah Craven in 1972, and they later divorced.
In 1974, he moved to Thorp, where he bought and worked a dairy farm. He also did
carpentry work and hauled milk for Bellinger Dairy while running the family
farm. He sold the farm in 1980, moved to the town of Reseburg, rural Withee, and
began hauling livestock for Mattes Livestock in Thorp. He started his own
business, Dave’s Trucking, and he continued hauling for Equity, Turenne and
Premier until his death. Dave married Maxine M. Frese on Aug. 15, 1987, in
Neillsville. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed trail riding and
being around horses, hunting, fishing, throwing darts, pitching horseshoes, and
playing dirty clubs. He was a former member of the Circle T Saddle Club.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Maxine, of Withee; four children: June
(Joe) Delveaux of Brussels, Jason (Christy) of Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama
City, Fla., Jamie Lingenfelter of Thompson, Iowa, and David Lingenfelter Jr. of
Greenwood; his mother: Wanda Lingenfelter of Bassett, Neb.; four stepchildren:
Ronald (Sharon) Pogodzinski of Fall Creek, Lynn (Mike) Koch of Abbotsford, Lisa
(Adam) Davis of Stetsonville, and Holly (Jeremy) Nett of Thorp; seven
grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; 13
step-great-grandchildren; three nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Bill; and one brother, Rick
Lingenfelter.
