Halbrader, Lawrence (11 August 1910 – 9 February 1975)
Lawrence Halbrader, 64, of 1248 Highway Z, Dousman, and formerly of Neillsville,
died Sunday, February 9 at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital following an apparent
Heart attack. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
Memorial services are to be held this (Thursday) evening at 8 p.m. at the
Notbohm Funeral Home, 121 Cross St., Oconomowoc. Complete funeral services are
scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. from the Missionary Baptist Church, Greenwood,
with the Rev. Dale J. Buchanan, Whitewater, officiating. Interment will be in
the Town of Seif Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m., today (Thursday) at
the funeral home and at the church in Greenwood from noon Friday until time of
services.
Lawrence Halbrader, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Halbrader, was born
August 11, 1910, in the Town of Seif. His marriage to the former Winifred V.
Oswald took place August 20, 1952, in Neillsville.
He worked in sawmills throughout his lifetime, buying his own sawmill in 1945 in
Clark County. Mr. Halbrader operated his own mill until 1960, then worked for
Leslie Dix lumber and Forest Products, Dousman, where he was head sawyer for 13
years before retiring in 1973 because of failing health. He was a member of the
Baptist Church in Whitewater.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Winifred, include two sons: Warren J. (wife,
Sheila) Halbrader and Randy Halbrader, Palmyra; two daughters: Mrs. Michael
(Linda) Schmidt, Hebron, and Edris Shirley Halbrader, at home; two brothers:
John Halbrader, Rockford, Il., and Victor Halbrader, Willard; and two
grandchildren.
