Abigail Mathison was awarded the Gold Crest Award by Pat Malecki at the 2018 Scholarship Banquet. The Crest Award was developed by the Thorp staff years ago—recognizing students not on simply academic achievement or popularity, but for their positive impact on the Thorp School District. Each Crest Award winner is chosen for their leadership, cooperation, and general consciousness towards creating positive image for their class and their school.

Abigail Mathison was also awarded the Wisconsin Academic Excellence Scholarship, which gives her $2,250 each year for four years of education. On top of this scholarship, the 2018 Thorp Valedictorian was also awarded the $300 Thorp Education Scholarship, as well as the $500 Bob Lotzer Employee Scholarship.

The $2,000 Gertrude F. Swanson Scholarship, the $1,000 Jeanette Morgan Memorial Scholarship, and the $500 Elvin & Viva Fleming Scholarship were also awarded to Abigail.
