Hurst, William Ernest Sr. (12 APR 1942 - 20 MAY 2018)
William Ernest Hurst Sr., 76, Prentice, died in the Aspirus Pleasant view
Nursing Home in Phillips while under the care of Flambeau Home Health and
Hospice on Sunday, May 20, 2018.
He was born in Troy, New Hampshire, on April 12, 1942, the son of Arthur and
Viola (Porter) Hurst. He was married to Anne Lorraine Newcomb on July 30, 1970,
and they later divorced.
He worked as a painter for most of his working career. He made Price County his
home in 1994. In his free time he enjoyed spending time at Reuben’s Sales and
Service in Prentice, was an avid NASCAR fan and was very proud of the fact that
he attended the very first NASCAR race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in
Loudon, NH. He was a winner in the October 1995 Wisconsin Money Game.
He is survived by one son, William Jr. (Mandy), Tomahawk; by one daughter,
Hollie (Jeremy) Fryklund, Medford; by 8 grandchildren; and by four brothers and
sisters, Gwendolyn Johnson, Florida, Richard, New Hampshire, Robert (Carol),
Florida, and Shirley (Harlin) Mitchell, New Hampshire. He is preceded in death
by one son, Thomas Hart, and by three sisters, Beverly, Bernice, and Helen.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice on
Friday, June 1, from 5 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
