Tate, Thomas Jefferson Sr. (11 APR 1932 - 18 MAY 2002)
Thomas Jefferson Tate Sr., 70, of Gilman, died Thursday July 18, 2002, at his
residence.
A visitation and time of remembrance was held Sunday, July 21, at the home of
his daughter, Nellie Lebal, in Gilman. Burial will take place in Meadowbrook
Cemetery, Gilman.
Gilman Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Thomas Tate was born April 11, 1932, in Trimble, MO., to the late Thomas E. and
Katherine S. (Maddox) Tate. He grew up in Trimble and Plattsburg, MO, area, and
later served in the US Army during the Korean War.
His marriage to Caroline Pooler, who survives, took place on January 1, 1955, in
Plattsburg. They lived there most of their married life, where he worked many
years as a truck driver. He also loved the outdoors and doing anything
mechanical.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Nellie Lebal, Cindy
Bechlem, Thomas Jr. and Bobbi Lynn (fiancé Chris), all of Gilman; five brothers,
William (Deloris) of Grover, MO., Charles and Francis (Naomi) both of
Plattsburg, Isaac (Sandy) of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Harry (Joyce) of
Lathrop, MO; one sister, Lucy Fisher of St. Joseph, MO; and six grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dixie.
