Donald M. Kirn, Willard (Clark Co., Wis.), Clark County Forest and Parks
Administrator, has been named Forest Conservationist of the Year. The
announcement was made by Dennis P. Madigan, Executive Director of the Wisconsin
Wildlife Federation, Inc. Kirn will be honored at an achievement awards banquet
March 16, 1974 at the Park Motor Inn, Madison.
Each year, nine top conservationists are named and a tenth is chosen as the
"Wisconsin Conservationist of the Year," with the announcement to be made at the
banquet.
The release from the Federations states that Kirn, "worked diligently to
maintain the natural assets of Clark County, while helping create maximum
recreational opportunities for local residents." Kirn has been responsible for
establishment of trails, ski and camping facilities, and other recreational
aspects, while working closely with local units of government, as well as state
and federal authorities, to provide these services in a way that is harmonious
with Clark County's natural heritage and which enhances the outdoor experience.
