Woik, Denis R. (7 MAR 1966 – 27 MAY 2018)

Colby - Denis Ronald Woik, age 52, of Colby joined his heavenly father on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center.

He was born on March 7, 1966, the son of Ralph and Elsie (Mueller) Woik in Marshfield. He attended Owen-Withee schools and was a graduate of the class of 1984. After graduation, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he received degrees in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration in 1989. Denis was united in marriage with Kristine Flink on October 13, 1990 in Colby. He worked for Wausau Insurance, which later became Liberty Mutual, as a Senior Software Analyst from 1992 until the time of his death. Denis was an active member of his community and his church, the First United Church of Christ in Colby. He loved spending time with his friends and family, going to music concerts and festivals, attending and announcing sporting events, and volunteering in his community. Denis was well-known in his community for his booming laugh and infectious smile. Most everyone who met Denis has warm memories of him as he has left quite an impact on all who knew him. Although Denis is no longer physically with us, the memories he left will be remembered forever.

Denis is survived by his loving wife, Kris, and his two beloved daughters, Elise and Hanah, his mother, Elsie, of Colby, his sister Diane (Larry) Herington of Owen, and his brother Duane (Betsy) Woik of Portland, OR. Denis is further survived by many wonderful in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. Denis has many friends he met through his work, gym, and the community activities he was involved in. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at the First United Church of Christ in Colby on Friday, June 1 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be held at the Colby High School gymnasium on Saturday, June 2, at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral. The family will be designating memorials to build the new announcer's booth at Colby High School, a place where Denis became known as the voice of Colby athletics. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.
