Hansen, Fern A. (1 MAR 1955 – 25 MAY 2018)
Fern A. Hansen, 63, Greenwood, passed away at home, peacefully surrounded by her
family, on Friday, May 25, 2018. A celebration of life will be held at Cuddie
Funeral Home in Greenwood, on Friday, June 1, from 3-5 p.m. Burial of her
cremains will take place in the Greenwood City Cemetery at a later date.
Fern Ann Meyers was born on March 1, 1955, in Waupun, to Leneil S. “Mike” and
Lois (Wolf) Meyers. Her parents moved to Greenwood in 1956, where she was raised
and received her education, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1973. After
completing high school, Fern attended UW-Eau Claire for one year, and Chippewa
Valley Technical College for two years, completing the licensed practical
nursing program. She married David E. Hansen on Oct. 11, 1975, at Our Savior’s
Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Fern worked at the nursing home in Osseo and then
at Neillsville Memorial Home. She worked 14 years at the nursing home in
Neillsville, followed by 20 years at Memorial Medical Center. Fern also held
various other jobs including The Raft House in Greenwood, Sniteman Pharmacy,
Curves, 7 C’s Daycare, and Greenwood school cafeteria aid. She had many
interests, but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family,
family vacations in Holcombe over the 4th of July, reading, cooking, theater,
music, and sitting out on her back patio in the warmth of the sun.
Fern will be dearly missed by her husband, Dave, of Greenwood; her children:
Holly (Robert) Dillenbeck of Mosinee, and Ben (Lindsey) Hansen of Minneapolis;
her grandchildren: Brooklyn and Logan Dillenbeck; her sisters: Cindy (Dave)
Esselman of Loyal, and Julie (Scott) Schmidt of Neillsville; a brother-in-law:
Harvey Hukari of San Francisco; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joan Hukari.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Marian Greenburg and her
staff at Marshfield Clinic Health System.
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together … there is something you must
always remember: you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and
smarter than you think, but the most important thing is, even if we’re apart …
I’ll always be with you.”
