Gosbee, John W. (14 DEC 1931 - 25 MAY 2018)
John W. Gosbee, age 86, of Medford, WI, died May 25, 2018 at his residence in
the Town of Chelsea.
John was born December 14, 1931 to Ann (Stiener) Gosbee and John W. Gosbee in
Chicago, IL. He grew up in Whittlesey and graduated from Medford High School. He
then attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and earned his
bachelor’s degree of education. He met Charlene J. Kabat (of Stevens Point) and
they married February 16, 1957.
John then moved to Madison, WI and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison
where he received his master’s degree of education. He then moved to Racine, WI
and taught physics at J.I. Case High School for many years. After retirement,
John and Char moved home to Whittlesey. John enjoyed travelling, spending time
with his family, and supporting his parish. He cultivated a love of the outdoors
that included camping, mushroom hunting, bird watching, and four-wheeling. John
had been a member of a barbershop chorus for many years and also enjoyed polka
music.
John is survived by his children Geralynn Gosbee, John W. Gosbee, Peter (Sue)
Gosbee, David (Ann) Gosbee, Greg (Rich) Gosbee, and Alyssa (Paul) Stang,
numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and
extended family members.
John was preceded in death by his wife Charlene Gosbee in 2016, parents John and
Ann Gosbee, sisters Marie Jochimsen, Anna Mayer, and Marggie Jochimsen, grandson
James Doyle in infancy, and daughter-in-law Laura Gosbee, as well as extended
family members.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Our Lady of
Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Whittlesey with Father Phil Juza officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. A
graveside burial service will be held in Chelsea Community Cemetery, Town of
Chelsea, on Saturday, June 2 at 10 AM.

Association-Greater WI Chapter, 3313 S. Packerland Dr., Suite E, De Pere, WI
54115.
