Huber, Jerome “Jerry” E. (13 DEC 1939 - 26 MAY 2018)

Jerome “Jerry” E. Huber, 78, of the township of Hammel, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital emergency room in Wausau.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, at First Baptist Church in Medford with Rev. Tim Becker and Rev. Brian Wipf presiding. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Medford from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Jerry was born on Dec. 13, 1939, in Grant County, N.D., to the late Katherine (Schlepp) and John Huber. He attended Schrader Grade School in Grant County, N.D., and was a 1957 graduate of Lemmon High School in Lemmon, S.D. On Dec. 22, 1962, in Rockford, Ill., he married Pearl Joanne Kouril and she survives.

After his education, he ranched in North Dakota until moving to Rockford, Ill., in 1961 where he worked as a machinist at Rockford Screw Products and later Chrysler. From 1968-1974 he worked as a production supervisor at Kent Feeds. In 1975 they moved to the Medford area and he worked as a machinist at Wisconsin Equipment until 1979. They moved to Owen where they owned/operated the Curtiss Feed Mill from 1979-1985. Then they moved to Stetsonville where he sold insurance as an independent agent. He went on to work at Agri-King as a cattle nutritionist and later drove truck for Abbyland Trucking until ill health forced his retirement.

Jerry enjoyed playing guitar, gospel/country music, was a self-fabricator, family activities, his church, biking, bird watching, hunting and his Sheltie dog. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Medford where he was a former trustee.

Jerry is survived by his children, Edward (Mary) Huber of Bloomington, Minn., Philip (Karen) Huber of Colby and Curtis Huber of Mellen; six grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Robert, Morgan, Hunter and Mackenzie Huber; siblings, Leilla Moll of Fargo, N.D., Allen (Patricia) Huber of Medford and Sharon Kouba of Tucson, Ariz.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jerry was preceded in death by 11 siblings.
