Roesler, Hugo J. (26 SEP 1897 – 29 MAR 1974)
Hugo J. Roesler was born September 26, 1897 to Charles and Mary Roesler in the
Township of Reseburg, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). He died at the Veterans Hospital
at Ft. Snelling, Minneapolis, Minnesota, March 29, 1974, at the age of 76 years
and 6 months.
He was educated in the Goff School District, Reseburg Township. He lived in the
vicinity of Thorp all his life. He worked on arms, at bridge work, carpentry,
and in logging camps until 1942, when he was called to serve his county in World
War II. In 1943 he received his honorable discharge. He returned to Thorp and
worked for Blue Moon Dairy for 19 years. He retired in 1962 at the age of 65.
He was married to Hazel Castner at Loyal, Wisconsin, June 26, 1945.
He was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Thorp. He belonged to
the American Legion, Cecil Tormey Post 118, also the Senior Citizens and St.
Paul's Men's Club.
The funeral services for Hugo Roesler were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church
Monday afternoon at 1:30, with Rev. Olson officiating. He was taken to Loyal,
Wisconsin for burial, and laid to rest in the Loyal Cemetery.
American Legion services were conducted at the church.
