The School board at their meeting last Wednesday evening voted to discontinue
the study of German in the High School.
While many schools are discontinuing the study of foreign languages because of
its tendency to divide the American people into classes instead of uniting them
as has been shown since American had been at the war, this action was taken
largely because of the condition of the finances of the district.
With war prices prevailing in materials, salaries, etc., the Board finds it
impossible to make ends meet with the present appropriations.
