Stepping to the beat of a drum and bagpipe band, approximately 1,000 persons
participated in ceremonies Sunday at the 80th annual spring commencement at the
University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.
The Wisconsin Kilties, headquartered at the university, is an unusual music
organization, and for that reason was invited to participate in the event.
Presenting the address was Frank DeGuire, a 1953 graduate of UW, Stevens Point,
former law professor at Marquette University, and now president of the Pabst
Brewing Co. in Milwaukee.
Area students receiving degrees were:
- Miss Marjorie Schlinsog, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Schlinsog, R. 2,
Granton, who graduated with honors.
- Miss Darlene Fontaine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fontaine, 208 W. Miller
Street, Greenwood, and John Seaman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Seaman, R. 3,
Greenwood.
- Mr. Robert Pilz, son of Mrs. Lucille Pilz, 100 Elm, Spencer, Wis.
