Schopfer, Clara (Pape) (24 NOV 1926 - 7 JUN 2018)
Clara Schopfer, age 91, of Owen, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at St.
Clare's Hospital in Weston.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June
20 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen.
Clara was born on November 24, 1926, the daughter of William and Wilhelmina
"Minnie" (Ploog) Pape in Owen. She graduated from Owen High School. Clara was
united in marriage to Harold Schopfer in 1944. He preceded her in death on April
2, 2005.
Clara worked side by side with her husband, Harold, driving heavy equipment for
building roads. They also had a herd of beef cattle. She was well-known for her
cake decorating skills working for Ken's Bakery in Owen. Clara made character
cakes for her family and others. She worked as an election officer in the Town
of Hixon for many years. Clara was a 4-H cooking leader, enjoyed making barbie
doll clothes and was a seamstress. She was an excellent cook and baker and was
proud of her flower bed and large garden. Most importantly, she cherished her
family.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Ginger (Camby) Berry of Wausau; seven
grandchildren: Jini (Dean) Ruplinger, Patti Bloch, Steven Marcott, Kelly Marcott
(Jason Smith), Julie (Brian) Hastings, Michael (Regan) Jacks and Melissa (Eric)
Vance; 11 great-grandchildren: Matthew Dassow, Krista Dassow, Nikki Marcott,
Hailey Bloch, Onalee Marcott, Shyley Marcott, Madelyn "Maddie" Marcott, John
Jacks, Joe Jacks, Ethan Hastings and Ben Hastings; one
great-great-granddaughter, Ariana Reeves; a son-in-law, Paul Jacks of Cyprus,
TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Judie
Jacks; a brother, Edward Pape; two sisters, Irma Miller and Cleo Dearth and two
siblings in infancy.
