Edinger, David Keith (21 OCT 1930 - 6 JUN 2018)

David Keith Edinger, 87, of New Auburn, fell asleep in death peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

He was born on Oct. 21, 1930 to David and Hazel Edinger, in Kennan, on the Jump River. Here is where he grew up with his 10 siblings. He graduated from Phillips High School. He served in the army as a paratrooper during the Korean War.

In 1954 he eloped with Sarah Ellen Retzlaff to Butte, Mont., and they were married on Sept. 29, 1954. David enjoyed many trades and skills, from being a ranch hand to logging, being a machinist to a turkey farmer, and he truly enjoyed being a wrangler in Colorado. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, singing and dancing. He and his wife, Sarah, went to many dance halls back in the day. His faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses gave him real meaning in life and sustained him greatly in his marriage and in raising his children. He enjoyed teaching others Bible truths. He was a generous man ready to come to the aid of all.

He is survived by eight children, David Hunter (Elaine) of Globe, Ariz., Rachelle “Shelly” (Jon) Sypien of Largo, Fla., Brian (Mary) Edinger of New Auburn, Travis (Lori) Edinger of Bloomer, Craig (Karen) Edinger of New Auburn, Kimberly (Scott) Loofboro of New Auburn, Joshua (Jessica) Edinger of New Auburn and Tanner (Liz) Edinger of Kennan; 27 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Beryl Purdum, Yvonne Shield, Forrest Edinger, Bonnie Belan and Harry Edinger.

He was preceded in death by Sarah, his wife of 60 years, and a son, Klinton. He was also preceded in death by five siblings, Duane, James, Derald, Joanne and Lance.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 17 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 20232 80th Street, Bloomer, WI (intersection of Hwys. 53 and 64) with Reginald Clough officiating. Following the service, a lunch will be served at the New Auburn school, 704 East St., at 4 p.m.
