Gummerson, Judith Ann (21 AUG 1971)
Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Owen was the setting for the 11 o'clock wedding
Saturday, August 21, 1971, of Miss Judith Ann Gummerson and Jeffrey Jon
Mathewson.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Gummerson, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.),
and the groom, a resident of Milwaukee, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L.
Mathewson, also of Owen, said their vows before the pastor of the church, the
Rev. George A. Becker.
Mr. Gummerson escorted his daughter to the altar and Mr. and Mrs. Larry LaFevre
of Janesville, provided the music for the nuptial service.
For her special day, Miss Gummerson selected a gown of silk organza over taffeta
in A-line style. It had a chapel sweep train. Her headpiece was a lace floral
cluster and held her fingertip and cathedral length veil.
Apricot roses, orchids, stephanotis, and baby's breath made up her cascade
bouquet, which was tied with long white streamers.
Gowns of apricot and white organza were worn by the aides, Mrs. Lonnie
Melbinger, Milwaukee, matron of honor, and Miss Jane Hanely of Stanley, Mrs.
Thomas Gasner, Madison, and Sandra Poldzien, Crystal Lake, Ill., bridesmaids.
Their dresses were complemented with fresh flower headpieces and matching
colonial bouquets of apricot roses and chrysanthemums.
In the groom's party were Donald Wie, Wisconsin Rapids, best man, and Dennis
Joram and Lonnie Melbinger, both of Milwaukee, and Loren Jensen, Medford,
groomsmen.
Frank Moore of Wabeno and Richard Kincade of Owen were in charge of seating
wedding guests at the church.
Dinner was served in the church dining hall after the nuptial Mass, and the
reception took place that afternoon at Meadowview County Club.
Mrs. Jeffrey Mathewson, a senior at Stout State University, Menomonie, will
attend Mt. Mary College, Milwaukee, this fall, after graduation at Stout. Her
husband is a 1968 graduate of Stout State and is employed as an application
engineer by Kearney and Trecker of Milwaukee.
