Ewert, Arlyn (2 MAR 1921 – 11 JUN 2018)
Colfax - Arlyn Ewert, 97, formerly of Spencer, died Monday, June 11 at Colfax
Health & Rehabilitation in Colfax, WI. Arlyn was born March 2, 1921 in the town
of Unity (Clark Co., Wis.) to Dora and Henry Ewert. He attended school in
Riplinger and Unity and later the La Crosse Business College. He married Helen
Ampe on July 12, 1941 and they operated a dairy farm in rural Unity for 25
years. They were members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Riplinger. In 1967
they moved to Spencer when Arlyn became the clerk, treasurer, and office manager
for the village of Spencer. They then became members of Trinity Lutheran Church
in Spencer. Together they enjoyed traveling, gardening, and family time, and
Arlyn was active with the Spencer Lions Club for many years. They enjoyed
playing cards and were active with several card groups in the area. Arlyn and
Helen enjoyed 59 wonderful years together until her death in 2005.
In the fall of 2005 Arlyn moved to the Wissota Place Assisted Living Center in
Chippewa Falls, WI. He later moved to Colfax Health & Rehab, where he lived for
the past four years.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandrea (Jerry) Timm, of Colfax, WI; two sons,
Jeffry (Sally) Ewert of Rockford, Illinois, and Bradley (Peggy) Ewert of Eau
Claire; brother Roderick (Kay) Ewert of De Pere, WI,; and five grandchildren,
Shelby (Phillip) Fader, Clayton (Kelly) Timm, Eric Timm (Tim Ackerman), Mary
Alice Tsosie, Rhonda (Jim) Hall. Arlyn is further survived by great-
grandchildren Kylie Fader, Jordan Fader, Alex Timm, Maggie Timm, Adam Timm,
Allison Waukau, Allicia (Bezh) Butler, Allissa, and great-great grandchildren
Hazel, Grace, and Kenew.
Arlyn was preceded in death by Helen, his parents, and sister Ruth Ewert.
A visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer at 10:00 on
Saturday, June 23, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 and burial of ashes
at Trinity Cemetery. The family invites you to designate memorials to the
charity of your choice.
The Ewert family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Colfax
Health & Rehab and Wissota Place for their compassionate assistance over these
past 13 years.
