Schwenke, Arthur A. (13 DEC 1890 – 25 SEP 1971)

Arthur A. Schwenke, a resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) for 54 years, died at 11:30 Saturday night at the Clark County Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Schwenke were conducted from St. John's Lutheran Church at Withee at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, September 28. The parish pastor, Rev. Arthur Hellert, was in charge of the service, with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Julius Rohland, Otto Rohland, Fred Rohland, Otto Becker, Arthur Petke and Bert Eloranta.

The deceased was born December 13, 1890 in the town of Larabee, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, and attended schools at Pelka and four years at Wittenberg Academy, Wittenberg. On the 19th of June, 1913, he and the former Ida Hanke were married in a ceremony performed at Wittenberg. They then moved to Owen, and have resided here ever since. For 60 years he served as a railway postal clerk. He was an avid trout fisherman and enjoyed that sport in his retirement until he became ill about two years ago. He had been an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church for many years. His passing is mourned by his wife, Ida, Owen; a daughter, Mrs. J.D. (Pearl) Rittenhouse , Owen; a grandson; a sister, Mrs. Lily Schmidtke, Clintonville; in addition to several nephews and nieces.
