Syth, Arthur Nelson (19 August 1895 – 10 February 1975)
Arthur Nelson Syth, 79, lifelong resident of Greenwood, died at 4:30 p.m.
February 10 at the Sunnyvale Manor Nursing home in Wausau, where he was admitted
February 7.
Mr. Syth, the son of James and Emma (Teel) Syth, was born in Greenwood August
19, 1895. He received his education in the Greenwood schools.
He was married in Wausau April 16, 1919, to the former Amelia Toburen, who died
November 27, 1956. Mr. Syth was engaged in farming five miles south of Greenwood
until he retired in 1959 and moved into the city of Greenwood and had resided
here since.
On December 16, 1974, he fractured his hip and was taken to a Marshfield
hospital and was a patient there until going to Wausau February 7.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving, is a daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Alberta) Cunningham of Wausau, two
granddaughters: Mrs. Kay Bessie of Boulder, Co., and Mrs. Jane Weik of Wausau.
Funeral services were held Thursday from Grace United Methodist Church in
Greenwood. The Rev. Eugene Antrim officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Wilbur Stewart, Hugh Christie, Clarence Verhulst, Arleigh
Syth, Lawrence Cox, and Erwin Toburen.
Gary Schultz sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “Beyond the Sunset,” accompanied on
the organ by Mrs. Gary Schultz.
