Stewart, Minnette Alice (20 August 1900 – 13 February 1975)

Mrs. Robert Stewart, 74, Greenwood died Thursday in Memorial Hospital in Neillsville, where she was admitted January 14.

Mrs. Stewart, the former Minnette Alice Thompson, daughter of Thomas and Mary Thompson, was born August 20, 1900, in Abbotsford. She was graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1918.

She was married to Robert Stewart June 20, 1922, in Abbotsford. They settled on a farm in Highbridge, Ashland Co., in 1925. They lived there until 1945, when they moved to the Withee-Greenwood area. In 1946 they moved to the city of Greenwood and had resided here since.

Mrs. Stewart was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the local chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and the United Methodist women.

Three granddaughters: Mrs. Dean (Suzanne) Johnson, Mrs. Jon (Mary) Felton and Mrs. Neal (Corinne) Armitage sang, “How Great Thou Art,” accompanied on the organ by their mother, Mrs. Rita Stewart. Gary Schultz sang, “Beyond the Sunset” and “We’ll Gather at the River,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Gary Schultz.

Surviving are her husband, two daughters: Mrs. Donald (Mary Lou) Decker of Greenwood and Mrs. Gary (Helen) Rohde of River Falls, five sons: Robert T. of Stanley, Glen of Eau Claire, Keith of Middleton, Duane of Springfield, Va., and Lloyd of Greenwood. Thirty-six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Olin and Lloyd Thompson of Phoenix, Az., and John Thompson of Camarillo, Ca.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Eugene Antrim officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers, all grandsons were: Donald Jr., Ronald and Randall Decker, James, Edward and Mark Stewart and Richard Korn.
