Winner Named in Neillsville Ice Fishing Contest
NEILLSVILLE (Special) - A four ounce trout, caught by Percy Zickert, Rt. 2,
Neillsville, qualified him as winner of the Model 94, 30-30 rifle, first prize
in an ice fishing contest Sunday, sponsored by the Neillsville volunteer
firemen. The contest was held at Snyder Lake, six miles west of Neillsville.
Zickert caught the fish early in the contest and held onto that lead.
Second prize, a half-hog, was won by Bob Petkovsek, Willard, who caught a trout
weighing two ounces. Since only two trout were caught, third prize was awarded
to Margaret Michalak, Neillsville, as a door prize.
Howie Hainz of Neillsville, caught a bass weighing one-half ounce which
qualified him for a fishing reel. Another reel was awarded to Don Kubisiak,
Wisconsin Rapids, for the largest rough fish.
Top prize, a snowmobile, was won by David Appleyard, Neillsville; and the
special ladies prize of half-hog was awarded to Nina Lindner, Rt. 2, Loyal.
*Percy Zickert owned a tavern in Christie, Wisconsin, just north of Neillsville.
