Izdepski, Thomas Greeley (24 AUG 1945 - 22 JUN 2018)
Thomas Greeley Izdepski, age 72, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018,
surrounded by his family. Tom was born on Aug. 24, 1945, in Ladysmith, the son
of Stanley and Mary (Greeley) Izdepski. He married Linda (Wood) Izdepski on June
10, 1972 in Gillman.
He attended school at Marshall Center School in Sheldon through eighth grade and
then attended high school in Tony. He graduated from Flambeau High School in
1963. He attended a technical college in Milwaukee and graduated with a 2-year
draftsman degree. After serving in the Army, he went to work for the Wisconsin
Department of Transportation inspecting roads and bridges in the Milwaukee area.
He served in the Army as a Private First Class from 1965 through 1967, with some
time stationed in Germany. He was proud that, before leaving the Army, he was
asked to continue on into officer candidate school. He farmed and milked dairy
cows at Maplewood Farm, founded by his grandfather, Stanislaus Izdepski. Several
Izdepski family reunions were held at Maplewood Farm over the years with family
coming from all over the United States.
Tom enjoyed spending time with family and friends. After retiring from farming,
Tom also enjoyed coffee and playing dice at the Sheldon Community Center in the
morning. He liked playing sheeps-head with his friends. He gave a lot of his
time helping anyone that needed help. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and
York-Kolar American Legion Post 0136.
Tom is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Brian, Danielle, Michael,
Shaun and Derren, and their spouses; his grandchildren, Hannah, Mikayla, Daniel,
Isaac, Maddox and Greta; his sister, Ann Rivard; his brother-in-law, Dave Suhsen;
his sisters-in-law, Barbara Izdepski and Gay Izdepski and many cousins, nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley; his mother, Mary; his siblings,
John (infant), John (young child), Mary Margaret Suhsen, Jim Izdepski, Jane
Izdepski and John Izdepski; his brother-in-law, Jim Rivard and his niece,
Christine Suhsen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30 at St. John’s
Catholic Church in Sheldon. Military burial rites will be provided by the York-Kolar
American Legion Post 0136. A visitation will be held Saturday morning, at the
church from 9 a.m. to time of service.
