Mrotek, A. Pat (15 MAR 1940 - 21 JUN 2018)
A. Pat Mrotek, 78, of Cadott, Wisconsin, passed away on June 21, 2018, from
stomach cancer, surrounded by the love of his family.
Pat was born in Loyal, Wisconsin, to Alex D. and May Ellen (Stevens) Mrotek on
March 15, 1940. He married his high school sweetheart, Doreen Aumann, at St.
Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal on August 11, 1962. After graduating from
Loyal High School he went on to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for his
Bachelors Degree and the University of Wisconsin-Superior to obtain his Master’s
Degree in School Administration.
In high school, Pat was very active in sports and was a Golden Glove Boxing
Champion. At the University of River Falls, he was on the wrestling team and was
a three time All-American. After graduating from River Falls he and Doreen moved
to Montello, Wisconsin, where he taught junior high math & science and started
the Montello wrestling program.
In 1965 he accepted a position in Cadott, Wisconsin, teaching junior high math &
science, as well as the head wrestling coach, followed by accepting the position
of Elementary Principal in 1968. Pat was an inaugural inductee into the Cadott
High School Wall of Honor. He was a member of the River Falls Wrestling Hall of
Fame, the George Martin Wrestling Hall of Fame and the National Wrestling Hall
of Fame.
Throughout his life he was very involved in everything for kids and helping
others. He enjoyed watching his elementary students grow up and stayed in
contact with them and his many wrestlers. Pat was a very active member for many
years with the Cadott Chamber of Commerce and Lifetime Member of the Cadott
Lions Club. He served as District Governor of Lions District 27E1 from 1990-91.
He was a Melvin Jones Fellow, Birch Sturm Fellow, Ray Hempel Fellowship, in
addition to several International President Certificates of Appreciation.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and traveling to the
many events for his grandchildren. Pat is survived by his wife, Doreen of 55
years; three daughters, Michele (Jeff) Koch of Plain, WI, Melissa (Ray) Sperber
of Stewartville, MN, and Melinda (Jerry) Kenealy of Inver Grove Heights, MN,
along with seven grandchildren, Kyle, Erik (Miranda) & Zach (Claire) Koch,
Shawnna & Alex Sperber and Taylor & Payton Kenealy; brothers John (Bernice)
Mrotek of LuRay, VA, Clair (Carol) Mrotek of Spring Valley, MN, in addition to
many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alex and May Mrotek, father- and
mother-in-law, Henry Sr. & Agnes Aumann, brother Duane Mrotek, sister Joyce
Major in addition to many in-laws and four nephews.
Visitation will be at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 415 N. Maple St.,
Cadott, WI, on Sunday, June 24, 2018, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cadott on
Monday, June 25, 2018, at 11:00 am, with visitation from 9:00 am until the time
of service. Burial will be at Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott immediately following
the funeral Mass.

Sincerest thanks and appreciation to everyone who cared for our beloved husband,
father and grandfather, we cannot thank all of you enough. A very special thank
you to all the wonderful Mayo Hospice nurses & staff, nurses at the Mayo
Sonnentag Cancer Center, Dr. Al-Hattab & his staff and Dr. Jill Lenhart at Mayo
in Chippewa Falls.
